Training and Licencing

Specialist

Any piece of equipment that is used to lift heavy loads or elevate people to high working levels is potentially dangerous.  You can minimise the risk of injury and damage to property, while getting the most out of your MEWP or telehandler, by simply training your operators.

Each MEWP is different, as is every customer and how they use their MEWP. We can assist you in what courses you and your operators may need.

We can provide MEWP and Telehandler operation and familiarisation courses for your operators.

EWP Yellow Card

There is no specific licence required to operate EWP Equipment that has a capacity of up to 11 metres from the ground to the bottom of the platform when the boom lift is fully extended. However all states of Australia have statutory legislation requiring employers and operators to prove that they have been trained in the operation of the equipment.

The legislation clearly states that there is a ‘duty of care’ to ensure workplace safety. Employers must:-

• Provide information, instructions, training, and supervision necessary to ensure the health and safety of employers at work.

• Co-operate with efforts to comply with employers.

The Yellow Card Training Program has been designed for people needing to develop the skills and knowledge required to operate Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs or commonly known as EWPs). The course will provide training in the safe use of various types of elevated work platforms including boom type MEWPs with boom length under 11 metres. Participants may complete singular or multiple modules, depending on the type of EWP they will be operating.

The EWP yellow card is nationally recognised by the EWPA as competency to operate EWP machines under 11m.

Modules include:

• Vertical Lift (VL)

• Scissor Lift (SL)

• Self Propelled Boom Lift (BL)

• Trailer Lift (TL)

• Truck Mounted Lift (TM)

• Advanced Boom (AB)
